Scratch Europe

Belgian design
Scratch is an authentically Belgian, and therefore European, brand. Scratch originally started out on a modest scale at the turn of the century, gathering momentum rapidly in 2012. That’s when Scratch became part of DAM, a leading distributor of designer toys in Western Europe. A close friendship between experienced toy designer Etienne Ghilbert and businessman Jan Voorspoels resulted in a completely new Scratch collection. A strong product team went back to the drawing board, starting again from “Scratch”. That intense and fruitful cooperation involving all team members resulted in gorgeous designs which always go hand in hand with safety. Over the years, Scratch evolved into a lifestyle brand using a variety of materials such as wood, cardboard, textiles, metal and plastics.

With the emphasis on innovation, Scratch expresses its style all around the world. This globalisation continues unabated. Scratch currently has a presence in over 30 countries, in all corners of the world.

Safety first

Scratch has entrusted its production to a network of carefully selected, skilled professionals and manufacturers. Each with their own area of expertise. You may be surprised to learn that some Scratch products still require a particularly large amount of manual labour, carried out in small workshops. Safety and quality control are performed on location by Scratch’s own team, during various phases of the production process. This always happens in consultation with our head office in Belgium, which regularly also sends product specialists to visit the production sites. It goes without saying that all Scratch products comply with or even exceed European toy quality standards. What’s more, in countries imposing their own local safety standards, such as Japan, Israel, South Korea, or the United States to name but a few, Scratch products undergo laboratory testing before being put on the market. From design to production: safety and quality always come first. Scratch toys can be entrusted to your little ones with confidence.

Play & Learn
Every product is adapted to the age of the child, with a focus on the development of specific skills. These can range from practising fine motor skills, making connections and recognising colours and shapes, to building, drawing, walking and cycling. Each child plays according to his or her own creative approach, and Scratch is eager to support these explorations! Nearly all our products boast the Scratch Play&Learn symbol.
